SGS future S.r.l.
· Creation of an integrated Italian chain for CPV technologies generating synergies between industries, research centres and academic entities
· Realisation of low cost, high-performance CPV components and systems promoting Italian competitiveness in the solar energy sector
· Setting-up of unified methodologies for characterization of CPV components and systems, in order to develop future regulations for the new market
· Creation of an Italian Centre for qualification and certification of CPV systems.
SCOOP project organisation
The project couples four lines aiming at industrial development of different CPV prototypes together with three R&D “crossing” activities for component development.
Synergies among partners and activities allows optimisation of the efforts required for development and realization of common components and lead to a major reduction of research and development costs.
The realization of several systems based on common components make it possible for component manufacturers to access a wider market already at the beginning of the commercial phase.
Scientific and technical objectives
Development of advanced components for CPV systems:
¨ Single and multi junction cells, based on III-V compounds, silicon cells (c-Si), and assembly
¨ Optical systems for solar concentration
¨ Power electronics devices and control system
Development and demonstration of four CPV system prototypes targeting four different market sectors:
¨ 3 Rays System, based on solar spectrum splitting by means dichroic filters, designed for industrial and residential application;
¨ ICARO system, based on point-focus Fresnel-lens technology, designed for large scale electricity generation;
¨ SOLARNOVA system, based on linear concentration and aiming at heat and power generation integrated with residential dwelling façades;
¨ CENTER system, based on parabolic trough concentrators, for heat and power generation for small and medium commercial and industrial users.
