Abstract: It is here described a very long cavity dye-laser (maximum length about 18 m) obtained by modifying a commercial dye-laser (Coherent Radiation mod. 599). Its main property is to cover with continuity the atomic -molecular inhomogeneously Doppler broadened line having a longitudinal mode separation comparable to the homogeneous absorption line. The spectral characteristics, the preliminary tests and the possible applications of this kind of laser are presented.
