Abstract: Diode-pumped continuous wave Tm-Ho:YLF and Tm-Ho:BaYF lasers, oscillating at around 2 µm were comparatively analyzed, in terms of output power and wavelength tunability. Maximum output power of 310 mW with a slope efficiency of 19.9% was achieved for Tm-Ho:YLF laser. Tm-Ho:BaYF laser yielded the maximum output power of 225 mW with a slope efficiency of 13.8%. A tuning range of 40 nm, from 2032 to 2072 nm for Tm-Ho:YLF laser and a tuning interval of 88 nm, from 2005 to 2093 nm for Tm-Ho:BaYF laser were achieved.
