External ring-cavity quantum cascade lasers for mode-locking and atmospheric sensing

Abstract: An external ring-cavity quantum cascade laser is demonstrated and investigated for the first time. Applications in mode-locking and atmospheric sensing are discussed, and a preliminary experimental characterization of the ring laser is presented.
