Abstract: In this work are reported the colour measurements made with a commercial portable spectrophotometer on the painted plasters in the “Tomba dei Rilievi”, in the etruscan Necropolis of Cerveteri (Rome). They were accomplished for documentary sake and also to provide an effective method to identify, or to approach as much as possible, the original colours in extremely degraded situations. Moreover, the results are discussed of a detailed comparison between a red colour agglomerate, found in the Necropolis, some painted surfaces from the tomb, some fragments from the Southern Etruria district and the reflectance spectra of the yellow and of the red ochre.
