Abstract: Capabilities of YAG ceramics doped with 10% Yb ions for operation as a radiation balanced laser are evaluated. Parameters of the optimal cooling and radiation balanced lasing for YAG-Yb3+ ceramics are determined. It is shown, that YAG-Yb ceramics have better characteristics for optical cooling and lasing generation compared to ZBLANP-Yb3+ and Rb2NaYF6-Yb3+.
