Abstract: A time resolved diagnostic system based on a pump and probe scheme is designed to obtain a direct visualization of the shock-wave during excimer laser irradiation on organic tissue and derive quantitative informations about the main parameters involved in the photoacoustic process. The methods of plasma physics, as the model of \’strong explosion\’, was used to analyze the shock wave evolution at different time delays. The analysis provided quantitative data about the speed, the local density and pressure on the shock front, and the temperature distribution.
