Spectroscopy and PHotonics for Environmental Research and Earth Studies

Photo of the instrument COLD2. This analyser measures carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide, and is certified for deployment onboard stratospheric platforms (aircraft and balloons)

Photo of the instrument FORUM. This Fourier Transform Spectrophotometer measures the far-infrared emission by the earth, and the photo shows the deployment onboard a stratospheric balloon before a launch from Timmins (Canada)

The SPHERES group focuses on the development of optical techniques to be applied to environmental monitoring, diagnostics of industrial processes, and climatology. It’s worth noting that these techniques and devices can be applied in other fields, like medical diagnostics, or study of cultural heritage, or holograpy.
