EXTREME LIGHT AND MATTER

Thanks to a strong expertise in plasmas and pioneering activities in high-order harmonic generation and supercontinuum, the “Intense Laser Irradiation Laboratory (ILIL)” is among the most powerful high-intensity laser laboratories operating worldwide. Other activities include research on unconventional laser materials to achieve hundreds of TW power levels in the near infrared. In parallel, High-pressure Physics/Chemistry deals with matter under extreme pressures, up to several millions of atmospheres where the partition of solids into covalent, metallic, ionic, and molecular is severely challenged.
