Primary activity: His main research areas are laser spectroscopy, optical microresonators and fibre optic sensors. The experimental activity is focused on:
a) high precision spectroscopy of simple molecules;
b) high sensitivty techniques for detection of trace gases;
c) spectroscopy in optical cavities;
d) isotopic analysis with laser spectroscopy;
e) far-IR and mid-IR spectroscopy with quantum cascade lasers and nonlinear generation systems;
f) laser based systems and methodologies for strain/acceleration measurements in optical fiber sensors and resonators;
g) optical frequency comb synthesizers for optical metrology and spectroscopy
h) optical fiber resonators for liquid spectroscopy;
j) surface plasmon resonance sensors;
k) whispering gallery mode optical resonators in solid and liquid dielctric media.
Main experiences acquired: -Development of optical apparatuses, optical fiber systems;
-Measurement of physical and chemical parameters with fiber-optic sensors;
-Engineering, construction and optimisation of simple electronic circuits;
-Development and use of of laser sources (visible, telecom and mid-IR), unconventional coherent radiation sources (non-linear generation in the mid and far-IR);
