Abstract: The optical anisotropy of the Nematic liquid crystal (NLC) mixture E7 has been measured as a function of temperature, at the wavelength lambda = 10.6 mum. The experiment is based on an interferometric method that makes use of a pyroelectric videocamera with high resolution and sensitivity in the infrared spectral region. The experimental results are consistent with previous measurement performed by means of a conventional refractometric technique. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
