Abstract: We analyze the femtosecond polarization and wavelength-dependent nonlinear switching response of a birefringent fiber rocking filter. We show by perturbation theory and numerical simulations that, in the presence of the Raman self-frequency shift, the soliton switching efficiency may be optimized by injecting pulses in the fast fiber axis and with a negative wavelength offset from the center of the filter bandpass.
