Abstract: An Optical Frequency Comb-based apparatus, to be used as a calibration system of the IR GIANO astronomical spectrograph, is the aim of the Astro-Comb project. We plan to obtain, starting from a comb repetition rate of 100 MHz, a final calibration spectrum of lines equally spaced by 16 GHz over the spectral range from 1 mu m. Such a system is able to overcome some limits of the present day calibrators, allowing to complement a high resolution spectrograph, such as GIANO, for precision measurements like the detection of extra-solar rocky planets.
