Abstract: A device measuring the optical power of simple lenses by means of moire phenomena is described. The relevant equations are derived, and a working instrument is presented. A power measuring accuracy better than 0.25 m(-1) in the range of +/-10 m(-1) is demonstrated. (C) 2003 Optical Society of America.
