Abstract: This paper presents two infrared laser spectrometers built to measure CH(4), N(2)O and CO stratospheric concentrations. Both TDL were designed as a subsystem of a composite airborne instruments package, devoted to the chemical and microphysical diagnostics of stratospheric aerosols, developed in the frame of the Airborne Platform for Earth-observation programme (APE). We present the results of the measurements of N(2)O and CH4 concentration in the stratosphere performed in a polar campaign on board of the Geophysica M55 aircraft. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. More Information: The authors gratefully acknowledge the support of the European Commission for the test campaign under the contract EVR1-CT-2001-40020 (APE-INFRA) and for the arctic measurement campaign under the contract EVK2 CT-2001-00119 (EUPLEX) The test campaigns were also partially funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The authors are also very grateful to Mr. Mauro Pucci, of INOA, for the construction of most of the TDL optical components, and to Mr. Pasquale Poggi of INOA, for his support for the instrument electronics. The hard work of Dr. Stefano Balestri, of ERS Srl, in organising the test and scientific campaigns is also greatly acknowledged.KeyWords: Aerosols; Atmospheric chemistry; Greenhouse effect; Optical systems; Ozone; Semiconductor lasers; Troposphere; Upper atmosphere; Vibrations (mechanical), In situ gas analysis; Lower stratosphere; Tunable diode lasers; Upper troposphere, Infrared spectrometersDOI: 10.1016/j.infrared.2004.03.015Citations: 9data from “WEB OF SCIENCE” (of Thomson Reuters) are update at: 2024-11-17References taken from IsiWeb of Knowledge: (subscribers only)Connecting to view paper tab on IsiWeb: Click hereConnecting to view citations from IsiWeb: Click here
