Abstract: The object of the Protected Technology is the formulation of the technological concept, the design and methods of installation of an optical core for a bifacial photovoltaic module with spectral division of light, for the connection of 4-terminal cells, as per the patent application in ref. CNR 10931 (TRL2). The geometry of the optical element and the particular alignment conditions with respect to the incident light are potentially advantageous in terms of installation costs and energy yield, especially for operation under bifacial irradiation. The objective of the BISTROT Project is to raise the technological maturity of the TP through the experimental proof of concept of the bifacial photovoltaic module (TRL3) and the manufacturing of at least one prototype and its validation in the laboratory (TRL4), up to the validation in a significant environment (qualifiable with a final level at TRL5). Achieving TRL5 implies having eliminated the scientific risk and constitutes the necessary intermediate step towards transfer to the market.
The results of BISTROT will therefore be able to support decisions regarding further investments and actions aimed at engineering the prototype, subsequent to BISTROT and including accurate market investigations and business plans to support its possible production (towards TRL6 and beyond).
