Abstract: By a new measuring technique we have studied the evolution of the time-dependent temperature field of Rayleigh-Benard convection. The temperature field has been characterized by means of time-resolved spatial Fourier analysis and the amplitudes of the modes involved in the time-dependent convective motion have been measured.
