Abstract: The spatial structures of Rayleigh Benard convection have been studied in temporal chaotic regimes and in the transition into these regimes. Two different behaviors one associated with localized oscillations and the other with traveling waves have been observed. In chaotic regimes, fractal dimension and metric entropy depend on the point of measurement and on the way in which the phase space has been recontructed.
