Abstract: An optoelectronic weft stop motion for air-jet weaving looms is described. The device comprises very thin optical and optoelectronic components. It is disposed between the blades of the U-shaped channel of the loom reed in order to detect the presence of the weft yarn during its insertion into the warp shed in the weaving process. Details of the design and fabrication of the device are presented and electronic signal processing is discussed.
