Estimating generalized entropies from symbol sequences

Abstract: Standard simulations to extract the spectrum of metric entropies from symbol sequences are shown to be heavily affected by finite-size deviations due to the improper covering of the space of sequences. A method to avoid such problems and to increase the convergence is described and applied to one-dimensional maps.
