Abstract: The chaotic behavior of a class B laser can be controlled by the negative feedback of a suitable spectral component of the laser intensity. This control scheme involves the transmission of all unwanted frequency components as correction signals. The zero frequency component and the component at the frequency of the stabilized orbit were not affected by the negative feedback loop. The validity of this control scheme was verified numerically and experimentally in a carbon dioxide laser with modulated losses.
