Abstract: A bistable optical device, made of an extended system as a liquid crystal light valve (LCLV) plus a global feedback, displays a time dependent behavior whereby the fields corresponding to the two stable states fill different regions of the available space, and the boundary between the two regions moves periodically with a front velocity depending on the properties of the medium as well as on the feedback strength.
