Abstract: The fine structure transition 3P1 – 3P0 at λ=498 μm in the metastable triplet of 24Mg has been excited in a spatially-modulated atomic beam via a two zones interaction technique of the Ramsey type. A full width at half maximum (fwhm) of 1.1 kHz (Q≈5×108) has been obtained with a folded open resonator; the distance between the two zones of interaction is 30 cm. Experimental results and a previous theoretical analysis are compared showing a satisfactory agreement.
