Theory of pattern-free optical soliton amplification by quantum dot SOAs

Abstract: We show that the amplification of a 40 Gbit/s optical soliton train can be achieved at 1300 nm in a terrestrial SMF-based link without patterning effects by using quantum dot semiconductor optical amplifiers.
