Published on Physics of Plasmas a paper describing a research carried out by a team of the ILIL Group at INO-Pisa in collaboration with researchers the UK and the US. The study, based on an experiment carried out at the Vulcan PW Laser Facility (RAL, UK) was focused on the propagation of intense currents of fast electrons in solid matter and the role of beam instabilities in enhanced heating.The investigation, carried out in the framework of the EU HiPER programme and also funded by the Italian MIUR programme, is relevant for the physics of advanced ignition of Inertial Fusion and for the generation of high energy density matter typical of large planetary objects and stars.
