Within the project for the monitoring of the eruptive activity of Stromboli volcano and for the prevention of possible tsunamis, a buoy has been located under the Sciara side of Stromboli.
The project is in cooperation with the Hearth Science Department (DST) of Florence.
This particular buoy called “MEDA” is equipped with geophysics and oceanographic sensors; data are collected and sent in real time to the acquisition data centre of COA in Stromboli by means of a radio relay system.
Then data are immediately available to the Italian Centro Nazionale della Protezione Civile.
