More Information: Gianfranco has remained in Bologna ever since, except for two sabbatical leaves abroad: in 1971–1972 at the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics in Ottawa; in 1984 at the Time and Frequency Division of NIST in Boulder. In Bologna Gianfranco held the position of research fellow and senior research fellow at the Institute of Molecular Spectroscopy of the National Research Council (CNR) 1966–1983. In 1986 he became Professor of Physical Chemistry, a position he held up to his retirement, in October 2010. However, he continues his scientific work and as before, you can meet Gianfranco every day, in the Department of Physical and Inorganic Chemistry, where his research is proceeding undisturbed by the new status of ‘Retired Professor’.
