Stabilization of periodically amplified soliton systems

Abstract: We review the methods for stabilizing soliton propagation in long distance transmission systems. We analyse the effects of amplifier noise, soliton interactions, four-wave mixing, third-order dispersion, wavelength and polarization division multiplexing.
