Abstract: The peripheral dark-adapted retina is explored by means of a test spot subtending at the eye about 7 min of arc. The background is dark. The light is sinusoidally time modulated. The fusion condition is attained by varying the modulation depth. The attenuation characteristic curves are drawn, for different average luminances. Their dependence on eccentricity is sought for, and the validity of De Vries-Rose is discussed. The course of sensitivity to luminance differences is described. Last the attempt is made to estimate the time resolving power in terms of the upper cut-off frequency, by means of an electrical analog (linear filter).
