Primary activity: Study of the molecular basis of Alzheimer’s disease, in particular the influence of cholesterol on the processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) and on the lateral diffusion of APP and beta-secretase, the enzyme responsible for the toxic amyloidogenic pathway.

Study of aminosterols and their role in preventing/reducing the toxicity and aggregation of protein misfolded oligomers, a feature of several neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Main experiences acquired: Advanced microscopy techniques for imaging and single molecule tracking in cells.

Research Groups:
Biomolecular imaging and diagnosis

Others Funded Projects in which he/she participates:
Late onset Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSDs) in the differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases: development of new diagnostic procedures and focus on potential pharmacological chaperones (PCs)
